Visual Eye Media's Principal, Amani Channel, is an award-winning video producer, and writer. He's a media expert, social media practitioner, and a broadcast veteran with fifteen years of experience working in TV and radio.
Channel has worked at TV and/or radio stations in San Mateo California (KCSM-TV/FM), Gainesville Florida (WUFT-TV/FM), Washington D.C. (WJLA-TV ABC 7), Tampa Florida (WTVT-TV FOX 13), the cable network Black Family Channel, and HDNews. He currently works as a freelance video journalist for the Associated Press and he's been a featured guest contributor on NPR.
Content produced by Channel has aired on CNN, Headline News, Associate Press Television Network, Fox News Channel, BET, HDNews, and local news stations.
In addition, Channel has produced on a range of professional video projects that include: A TV pilot, a one hour hip-hop special, commercials, marketing, education, video news releases, and web content.
Channel is fully immersed in social media; having produced more than a hundred fifty video podcasts for independent citizen journalism styled video podcast/blog he created called MyUrbanReport.com.
"Social media is the new frontier," says Channel who is often asked to speak about his media experiences.
"The Internet is revolutionizing the way media is consumed, produced, and shared, and it's important for businesses and organizations to learn how to integrate video into Web sites, blogs and social networks to increase exposure."
Channel loves to share his knowledge about the TV business, and new media. He currently teaches a digital media class at Kennesaw State University, and he's taught video production as an adjunct instructor at Hillsborough Community College, and the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Tampa, Florida.
He also speaks at conferences, schools, and universities. Some of his speaking engagements include: YouTube’s Videocracy event - NY, NY; SoCon08 - Kennesaw, Georgia; Executing Social Media Conference - Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Channel has guest lectured at Clark Atlanta University, Georgia State University, and Kennesaw State University.
Channel is currently working to complete his thesis for a Masters of Arts in Mass Communications at the University of South Florida. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Daphne, and son.
